Who does not like fries? I believe the only people who do not like fries are the very people who are not allowed to eat them. Just like adorable husky puppies, you can’t help but fall in love with them!
Simple salt and pepper French fries, fun crinkly fries and even healthy sweet potato fries, it is just a world of wonders.
Here are 3 way to take our all-time favourite fries to the next level!
1. Garlic Fries
If you are a person for whom “too much garlic” is not a thing, this recipe is the thing for you. In a bowl, mix roughly chopped raw garlic, olive oil (or mustard oil if you want to increase the pungency), vinegar, salt and chilli flakes. Whisk the entire mixture into an emulsion and toss fries that are just out of the oil. These fries are spicy and garlicky, perfect for palates that like strong flavours. 2. Honey Chilli Fries
Don’t frown because these honey chilli fries are not the “thela” version, that is tossed in tomato sauce, soy sauce and an inexcusable amount of red food colouring. These fries have actual honey in them! In a pan, warm up a few tablespoons of honey with red chilli flakes in it, toss the fries in the warm mixture. Warming it up ensures that the honey is runny enough to coat the fries uniformly. Season with salt and garnish with toasted sesame seeds. These honey chilli potatoes are the real deal!
3. Mexican Fries
The taste of a plate of loaded nachos but with the comfort of fries, this way of serving fries is perfect for your get-togethers and summer dinner parties. On a large platter, spread a layer of seasoned fries, sweet corn and finely chopped capsicum. Sprinkle chopped gherkins, olives and jalapenos. Now sprinkle shreds of your favourite cheeses over it and baked it till the cheese melts.
For the salsa, put roasted tomato, chilli, garlic, olive oil, coriander, onions and olive oil in a blender and blend it into a chunky sauce. Season to taste. For the Guacamole, to a bowl of chopped Avocado, add chopped onions, garlic, cilantro, tomatoes and lime juice. Mix into a smooth paste. Do not forget to season. Generously drizzle the two sauces over the baked fries and finish with a drizzle of sour cream and chopped cilantro.
With this recipe, there’s not much that can go wrong. You can add any toppings you like, from sliced sausages to fried chicken chunks!
