5 Simple Ways to Make Spiced Nuts this Festive Season


Spiced nuts are a must during the festive season whether you are serving them at a gathering or gifting a batch to your near and dear ones. Why not make your own version of homemade spiced nuts and get creative?


Simply gather your variety of raw nuts or seeds along with a few flavouring agents including exclusive spice powders and you have got the ingredients to whip up some magic. Here are five creative recipes to make spiced nuts:


1. Smoky Ginger Pepitas

Although these crispy pumpkin seeds are delicious on their own, spice it up further by adding smoky notes. Take 1 Cup Raw Pumpkin Seeds + 1 Teaspoon Olive Oil + 1 Teaspoon Chilli Powder + 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger Powder + Salt as Per Your Taste Add oil in the pan and roast along with the spice powders for few minutes. Else you can also bake them for 10 to 12 minutes until toasted. Allow to cool before serving. Store it in a container and munch on to beat your hunger pangs. Makes for a great fasting recipe this festive season to help you feel fuller for a long time.

2. Vanilla and Coffee Flavoured Hazelnuts


Sweet spiced nuts combo make for an amazingly crunchy and nutty affair. Popularly used in chocolates, these will keep you going for more! 1 Cup Raw Hazelnuts + 1 Teaspoon Melted Butter + 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar + 1 Teaspoon Finely Ground Coffee + 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract + 1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg Powder or Cinnamon Powder Toss all the ingredients in a pan by first adding melted butter and all other next. Cook till toasted and it releases a nice aroma. Fresh and home-made sweet hazelnuts ready to be tasted! This dish makes for a great dessert for a family gathering this festive season.

3. Limelicious Cashews

Jazz up plain cashews with a simple lemon flavour. These zesty cashews are sure to be a big hit with your near and dear ones. 1 Cup Raw Cashews + 1 Teaspoon Coconut Oil + 1 Teaspoon Lemon Powder + Salt as Per Taste. Add Tassyams Special Braai Indo African Seasoning (contains onion, garlic flavours, if you want to omit for the festive season do not add this) Toast the nuts along with the seasoning in coconut oil. Adjust the lime zest by adding more or less of lemon powder. Delicious and zesty cashews too good to go!

4. Sweet and Salty Nut Medley

For this version, you can choose the choice of nuts you want and create a unique combination of both sweet and salt after notes.

1 Cup Raw Nuts of Your Choice (a mixture of almonds, cashews, walnuts or seeds) + 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil + 1 Tablespoon Minced Rosemary Leaves + 1/2 Teaspoon Honey + 1/2 Teaspoon Salt


Roast your choice of nuts in oil and add the rosemary leaves along with salt. Once toasted, drizzle honey on top and give it a good mix. That’s it! Sweet and salty nut medley is ready!
