5 Ways to Spice up Your Food Using Peri-Peri Seasoning

Originally produced by Portuguese explorers in Mozambique, peri-peri is also known as African Bird's Eye Chilli and imparts the element of heat and spice in food. It is small in size and has green colour when unripe which eventually turns to red on ripening. In Swahili, they are called with different names: Piri-Piri, Peli-Peli or Pili-Pili. Not only is Peri-peri chilli a flavouring agent, it has good health benefits too. Rich in anti-oxidants, Vitamin B1, B2, B3, folic acid, potassium, phosphorus, iron and calcium, peri-peri can help in increasing blood flow, metabolism and stimulate appetite. Let's have a look at how you can incorporate peri-peri seasoning in your regular foods.

1. Fries

Do you know of anyone who dislikes fries? No, right? Fries is the best thing to happen to a potato and we highly doubt someone would hate it. Perfectly fried and crisp fries are good in itself. But, you know how can you make them even better? Toss them in Tassyam Peri-Peri seasoning and trust us, they will get 100 times better.

2. Peri-peri Chicken

Just like the history of peri-peri chilli, peri-peri chicken was also brought into existence in Portugal and Mozambique. It is juicier, perfectly spiced and absolute noms.

3. Cheese Peri-peri Sandwich

Sandwiches are so easy to put together, not only that the vegetables/meat/spices/sauces you can use to assemble them have endless possibilities. One such flavouring you can use is peri-peri seasoning.

4. Peri-peri popcorn

Movie nights without popcorn should be declared a crime. But, how do you get those PVR style popcorns at home now that all theatres are almost shut down? Do not worry because making popcorn is legit a cake walk (if you follow the instructions properly) and bonus points because you save yourself from burning a hole in your pocket. You can either make popcorns from scratch using corn kernels, butter, salt or you can also flavour popcorn in these three different ways.

5. Peri-Peri Maggi

Maggi is one such food which is enjoyed by kids and adults alike. And as the love for maggi keeps increasing, the weird fusions people come up with is also crazy. From maggi pakoda to Oreo maggi, we have seen it all but, what remains the best maggi version is peri-peri maggi (maybe slathered with a cheese slice).
