6 Simple Ways to Drink More Water

Our body is made up of 60-70% water and it is always recommended to drink enough water daily. A well hydrated body maximizes physical performance, relieves constipation, may aid in weight loss and so much more. But, how do we achieve it? How do we drink 8 glasses of water daily without fail?

Well, here are some easy ways which can help you with building a good (water) drinking habit.

1. Keep a reusable water bottle

With work-from-home being the new daily routine, there are chances that you might get stuck to your laptop or so engrossed with zoom calls that you might forget drinking water even when the kitchen is just few steps away. Keeping a water bottle on your work desk or next to your bed will always remind you to have water. And even when you go grocery shopping or maybe a little walk, make sure to carry a reusable water bottle.

2. Set reminders

We know it sounds really weird but, a lot times people forget to drink water until they feel very thirsty. In that case, the little device that is always with you comes to rescue. There are easy-to-download apps which primarily focus on reminding you to drink water. Like we said, sounds super weird but, it is very helpful if you are trying to build a habit of drinking enough water.

3. Drink water after waking up

Make it a habit to drink 1-2 glasses of water right after waking up. Firstly, you have woken up after a sleep of 7-8 hours, which means your body is dehydrated. So, it is obviously good to re-hydrate your body with water. Secondly, drinking water first thing in the morning wakes up your organs, especially the ones related to the bowel movements.

You can also drink warm water with cinnamon powder or turmeric, which will add more benefits to the H₂O.

Not only this, try drinking a glass of water half an hour before every meal. This way you are not only drinking good amount of water but, also making sure that you do not overeat, keeping your weight in check.

4. Replace other drinks with water

If you are used to having multiple rounds of coffee/tea/packaged juices/aerated drinks in a day, try replacing some or most part of them with water. We know it is a big step but, trust us it will go a long way. The consumption of a lot of these drinks is, any which way, not the best for the body, so might just swap it with a healthy habit, no? You can even find a good alternative in green teas and herbal teas. Tassyam offers a wide range of green teas to choose from- chamomile, orange candy, after meal tea, you think of any flavour and we have it.

5. Make water interesting

Here comes our most favourite part. For a lot of people who drink very less water, one of the major reasons is that water does not taste "good" to them. And we understand this because water is tasteless, right? So, maybe make water interesting.

Add slices of cucumber/ fresh mint leaves/ lemon wedges/berries in a jar of water or your water bottle. This infuses the water with good and refreshing flavour. You can even make lemonade or use sugar-free drink mixes that are readily available in the market.

6. Consume foods high in water content

Many fruits and vegetables have high amount of water content present in them, which is an indirect way to increase your water intake. Watermelon, strawberries, melon, cucumber, lettuce, peaches, oranges, zucchini, celery, bell peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, grapefruit and many more have a high amount of water content. So, make sure you consume a lot of them when they are in season.

Happy drinking!!
